5 Simple Reasons Why I Love My Grandma

1. She raised my dad to be a sports nut, and he has thusly passed that fanatical adoration down to his children, who will pass it down to their children. Three generations, all yelling at the TV, prematurely giving up when the team is behind, and then smugly saying "I told you so" when the win. The family that is fickle together stays together.

2. Through her great, um, talents, such as playing pinochle, directional ability, culinary expertise, and stellar driving skills, she has given us many stories that we can pass on from generation to generation, each retelling funnier than the last.

3. She has a lovely sense of humor, and therefore family get togethers are always full of laughter and fun. She is the glue that holds us together, and all of those family get togethers are the reason that our cousins and our best friends are often one in the same.

4. She has always been a great supporter of her grandchildren, and now her great-grandchildren's endeavors. She proudly sat at baseball games, football games, band events, and anything else that involved cheering and sports. She has attended every high school graduation, and most of the college ones.

5. At 88 years old, she still knows everyone's birthdays and anniversaries. And with a little effort, she can tell you the birth month of most of her nieces and nephews. All bajillion of them.

5. She rocks a baseball cap and Hallmark-Maxine glasses like nobody's business.
